UAC is teaming up with Project Green Fork to paint two recycling containers in the Cooper-Young community.

We are scheduling a volunteer day for Wednesday, June 26th, 10AM - 5PM. This day has been set aside to prep and prime the containers before mural installation. We will continue to have volunteer opportunites to assist with this project until mid-July.

If you are interested and would like to RSVP or hear more details please email Siphne Sylve at info@urbanartcommission.org.

Project Background
Jay Crum and Kong Wae Pang created the winning designs for two recycling containers in the Cooper-Young District of Memphis, at the intersection of 1000 South Cooper Street and Walker Avenue. Project Green Fork has adopted the existing recycling center in this location, which is intended to be both functional and visually attractive. Working collaboratively to enhance the cultural and environmental vitality of the neighborhood, the project partners solicited stimulating designs from local artists. Goal of the project is to create artistic markers that identify the Community Recycling Center as a distinctive Cooper-Young asset that is positive, culturally rich, diverse, lively, and welcoming to both residents and visitors.

Project Green Fork partners for the Community Recycling Center are the City of Memphis, First Congregational Church, Get Green Recycleworks, Memphis and Shelby County Office of Sustainability, ReCommunity Memphis and Shelby County Government. The project is facilitated by the UrbanArt Commission.
